Vineyards back to winning ways, Scottsdene too strong for Raithby Universals

Vineyards delivered the perfect response to last weekend’s loss to Busy Bees when they defeated Strand United 40 – 23 in Paarl.
Vineyards Head Coach Nasief Abrahams would have been delighted with the result that sees his team climb right back into the title race. Two tries from Robin Andrews as well as a stellar display from star forward Ayoob Moerat helped the club earn the bonus point victory.

Scottsdene’s star full back Ashwin Dube was one of several try scorers as Alastair Siegelaar’s men thumped Raithby Universals 50 – 10 on Saturday. Eugene Thomas, Franco Smith, and Doniel van Rooyen were also among the try scorers.

All Saints meanwhile took derby honors as they defeated Macassar 17 – 13 in Somerset West on Saturday. In front of a packed home crowd that included representatives from St Georges and Tygerberg, both sides gave it their all.

All Saint’s flyhalf Cheslyn Jack took his points total to 122 for the season in another virtuoso display. Tries from Rhoden November and Wesley Josephs helped seal the win for the league leaders.

Young Stars’ descent towards the bottom of the table continued on Saturday as they went down at home to Goodwood. Shane Grundlingh scored his fourth try of the season as Goodwood picked up a 36 – 24 win over Roger Smith’s men.

In results elsewhere, Strand RFC went down 10 – 11 at home to Busy Bees while Hamediehs picked up a morale-boosting 24 – 23 win over Lagunya in a battle of the SLC bottom clubs.
