Super League B Wrap – Helderberg are the new league leaders!

Super League B Wrap – Helderberg are the new league leaders!

There has been a feeling coming out of the Helderberg camp that Head Coach Irven October is building a special team capable of reaching Super League A status next year.
On Saturday, October took his team to Paarl to take on Young Peoples. In what was a ruthless display, tries from Alvino Anthony, Ryan Solomons, Chevanne de Morney, as well as a double from Ovian Engelbrecht made it six wins from seven for the new league leaders.

Hamlets missed the chance to go second on the log as they were thrashed 44 – 17 at home against Franschhoek United. Hamlets, usually so formidable at their Mamre home, were simply no match for a more determined and clinical Franschhoek outfit.

A 19-point haul from Vivien Fredericks was not enough for Hands & Heart as they drew 29 – 29 to Paarl on Saturday. Conrad Eiman, Aulante Losper, Christopher Bennet, and Riaan Williams all got on the score sheet for Paarl who leapfrogged their opponents in the overall standings.

The draw will do neither side much good as they both have some catching up to do against the teams above them.

Kraaifontein edged out local rivals Kuilsriver 14 – 10 in a game played in typical derby conditions. Local pride as well as precious league points were on the line as both sides went hammer and tongs at one another. The win sees Kraaifontein pull away from the relegation zone.
