Rangers shock Helderberg, the Lulu Train shows no signs of slowing down!

31/07/2017
Helderberg would have been hoping for an immediate bounce back after last weekend’s loss to Villager but left Surrey Estate empty handed with the hosts running out 30 – 16 winners.

Rangers, buoyed on by recent results as well as their  typical passionate Surrey Estate support, were too much for Helderberg to handle as they ran in four tries to one. Club talisman Faeez Charles got on the scoreboard, as did Rameez Davids.

The result sees Ebrahim Moerat’s men move up to ninth on the log while Helderberg have lost valuable ground in the title race. They are now eight points behind neighbors and rivals St Georges.

The Lulus were in fine form once again this Saturday, running in five tries against a game opponent in Young Peoples on their way to a 46 – 25 win in Paarl.

Nico Philander took his individual try tally to 15 for the season with a brace of tries but was unable to help Young Peoples secure the win over the rampant Lulu Boys.

A mammoth 26 points from Naziem Wood was the catalyst for the win while Dimitri Hendrickse managed to bag himself a brace of tries.

Hands & Heart’s disappointing season continued on Saturday as they went down at home 21 – 33 to Villager. It’s now just three wins all season for the Rainbow Team who will be looking over their shoulder as they sit perilously close to the relegation zone.

Tries from Daniel Clark, Leroy Biehl, Junaid Christians, and Marius Viviers secured the win for Clinton van Rensburg’s men who remain as one of the dark horses for the SLB title.

John van der Vent and Wendell Dirks got onto the score sheet for the hosts but it was not enough to get the much needed win.
In results elsewhere, Collegians broke their Chukker Road hoodoo as they overcame rivals Violets 22 – 20 in a closely-fought affair.

Tries from Granwill Adams and Riaan Williams helped Paarl to a 28 – 14 win over Kraaifontein in the final result of the day.
