Klaasen puts SK to the sword, Tygerberg beat Belhar

Four tries from Harlon Klaazen helped Hamiltons to a 74 – 19 win over traditional rivals SK Walmers on Saturday.
This is a fixture that has traditionally served up some exhilaratingly close encounters in the past but Saturday’s clash was a one-sided affair from the onset. SLA’s top try scorer Iewan Bartels bagged himself a brace to take his individual tally to 16 tries for the season while there were also tries for Dale Wilson, Jason Kriel, and Valentino Wellman.

The win sees Niekie Viljoen’s team leapfrog False Bay into first position although they do have a game in hand. SK meanwhile are not out of the relegation woods just yet and will need to bounce back swiftly after this heavy defeat.

Karl Liebenberg and Ettiene Swarts accounted for two of Durbell’s eight tries on the day as they beat Primrose 48 – 19 to make it seven wins in a row. Edgar Syfers and Shaheed Green were among the try scorers for Primrose who will be looking to claw their way out of the relegation zone.

Florida Park was packed to the rafters and Tygerberg did not disappoint their fanatical home support as they beat local rivals Belhar 40 – 18 on Sunday.

The match was played as a curtain raiser to the SuperSport Rugby Challenge final which was won by DHL WP.

The home crowd had more reason to celebrate as tries from Wilbre van Wyk, Percy Goliath, Tyrone Scholtz, Kenny Africa, as well as a double from Daniel Roberts had the Florida Park faithful roaring their Tigers on.

Belhar did mount a comeback in the second half but tries from Angelo Nelson and Zhaun Booysen were not enough to dampen the winning mood at Florida Park.

Tygerberg will go into this weekend’s clash against Maties full of confidence having held them to a draw last season.
