NEW POINTS SCORING SYSTEM FOR VARSITY CUP
The Varsity Cup starting in January will have a new scoring system to encourage teams to score more tries. A conversion will therefore be 3 points and penalties and drop-goals only counting two. So a team that scores a converted try will have 8 points which will be the same as a team that kicks 4 penalties. Do you think this is encouraging for rugby in general?

I think its a load of rubbish, sort out the breakdown if you want to'' encourage'' try scoring. One more reason for me to lose interest in this Varsity SH*T.....

RE:NEW POINTS SCORING SYSTEM FOR VARSITY CUP
I think it is a good idea, in France for instance (only in the Top 14 league games) they do it as follow, if you score 3 tries you get a bonus point however if your opponent also scor just 1 try you lose that bonus point, so you need to have a clear 3 try diffirence - 6 tries to 2 will give you that bonuspoint, just another way. But I agree they need to sort out the breakdown area. I love that fact that you only get 2 points for a drop goal, but not so sure about the penalties. So if a team is under the kosh in their ow have they only have to spoil the ball and ONLY 2 points for a conversion? I know the varsity guys are clearly trying to do something diffirent and good for them, maybe small steps is also a good thing, 1 thing (change) at a time people
