It's that time of year that we give back a little. The benefits for clubs this year through the media and other manners has been enormous. Not only have the clubs bennefitted from TV, Radio and Print publicity and the current Media Strategy Role out at WPRFU, but many of the clubs have benefited directly from the WPRFU. It's time to see how we can extend the world of WP Rugby to the even less fortunate.
On the 29th of November The WPRFU will entertain about 200 children from various welfare homes at the HPC ( High Performance Centre ) in Bellville. The HPC is the training location of the WP Rugby professional teams.
The children will get to meet some of their DHL WP Rugby heroes and experience a day of fun including various forms of additional entertainment.
This is a rare opportunity for many of these children as many of them would never previously have seen or met the senior players. More importantly is the fact that we will put some cheer into their lives as they will all receive gifts which they under normal circumstances will never receive.
Furthermore this is an opportunity for the clubs, administrators and members of the public to contribute to those that are less fortunate.
We ask that anyone who can possibly donate a toy or funds please do so. The year 2011 has seen enormous value given to the world of amateur rugby and from a WPRFU point of view we would like to see the clubs and administrators contribute to the day.
We have already recived 200 Teddy bears from TATA via Rotary and some of the clubs who were able to donate, have donated funds.
We will publish the names of the clubs who donated so generously.
Any toys you can collect at your club can be delivered to the WPRFU offices and if you can make a monetary donation for the day. You can please contact Herman Abrahams at the WPRFU offices on 021-659 4500.
Any media wishing to attend the event on the day are welcome and can contact Herman on the same number to arrange accreditation.
Best Regards
WPRFU
