Reason for poor Bok performances!?
With about a year until the next WC in New Zealand, the Boks are looking less and less likely to retain the WC title. Why is this? What are the reasons for the massive slump in form?
-Are the players not as good as they believe?
-Is PDV clearly out of his depth?
-Is there a third force that is hell bent on sabotaging PDV's tender?
-Are Gary Gold and Dick Muir not up to the task?
-Is the constant meddling by politicians a disruption?
-Are the other teams progressing at a faster rate than the Boks?
-Is player power making things difficult for PDV?
-Are the fans expectations unreasonable?
-All of the above?

gameplan?
playing with intensity and with experienced players can only take you so far
what is that gameplan at the moment...
love the fact the boks have shown some charater and passion
to come back in this game and win it..
but i just dont see a gameplan...
passion and guts yes...but gameplan ...no?

PLAYERS DO NOT BECOME RUBBISH OVERNITE
-Is PDV clearly out of his depth?
PROBABLY FROM A TECHNICAL POINT OF VIEW-GAMEPLAN
-Is there a third force that is hell bent on sabotaging PDV's tender?
WHEN IT COMES TO RUGBY, THERE IS ALWAYS A 3RD FORCE
-Are Gary Gold and Dick Muir not up to the task?
DIV , GOLD AND MUIR, PROBABLY NOT ALL ON THE SAME PAGE, AND THATS A PROBLEM, AND ARE PROBABLY NOT THE BEST OF COACHES EITHER.
-Is the constant meddling by politicians a disruption?
DEFINETLY...WHAT OTHER TEAMS PUT UP WITH POLITICS IN SPORT? UNFAIR TO COACHES, PLAYERS ETC
-Are the other teams progressing at a faster rate than the Boks?
NZ YES, AUSSIE IN THE MIDDLE OF SOMETHING
BOKS ARE PLAYING ON PASSION, WHICH IS NOT A GAMEPLAN
-Is player power making things difficult for PDV?THE COACH IS SUPPOSE TO BE INCHARGE , DIV HAS CREATED HIS OWN ISSUE REGARDING THIS MATTER..
-Are the fans expectations unreasonable? FANS WILL BE FANS
WE ONLY WANT THE BEST AND WE WANT TO WIN
BUT RUGBY FANS THAT KNOW THE GAME, UNDERSTAND YOU CANT WIN EVERYTHING ,BUT WE STILL WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME SORT OF PROGRESS REGARDING THE GAMEPLAN AND PLAYER SELECTION..
-All of the above? YES, ALITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING IS PLAYING ITS PART IN THE ABOVE MATTERS
BUT THIS IS NOT A TRAIN SMASH, SOME SIMPLE MATTERS NEED TO BE DISCUSSED, GET EVERYBODU ON THE SAME PAGE, GET A SOLID GAMEPLAN OR 2 TOGETHER, THAT ALL AGREE UPON..INCLUDING THE SENIOR PLAYERS (EXPERIENCED)..AND STICK TO IT..

possible bok squad for the world cup 2011 nz
lets take a look at who's where currently and what positions need work
this is just possibilitys and trying to think from the boks coaching point of view, which is difficult at times ;-), most of these players have been used by div and co, so playing it safe and sticking to the players that keep making the squad, this squad would need to be trimmed down..
and a few surprises could make this team, peter grant, duane vermeulen, coenie oosthhuizen, meyer bosman, joe van niekerk etc
at the moment these are the front runners for boks wc spots..

Currently we are not fielding our strongest team. A few has to go and new blood brought in.
-Is PDV clearly out of his depth?
Yes.
-Is there a third force that is hell bent on sabotaging PDV's tender?
No.
-Are Gary Gold and Dick Muir not up to the task?
They must be replaced.
-Is the constant meddling by politicians a disruption?
No.
-Are the other teams progressing at a faster rate than the Boks?
Yes, especially wrt the rules and ball retention.
-Is player power making things difficult for PDV?
Yes.
-Are the fans expectations unreasonable?
No.

Bhwaaaaaaaaa LOL!! Excellent!. Fatty, you are right. It takes you like forever to write something out and then it gets ignored as well. But ja, that was a bit harsh from Jakes.

got the talent, the players, the experience
what are div , muir and gold doing...
as for the backline, muir did himself no favours when he coached the lions in this years super14, they leaked trys and now so are the boks..
coincidence, me thinks not..
gold is good with the basic structures , lineouts, scrums etc
and that has improved, so hats off there
does that mean div is the attacking coach, play whats in front of you is not a gameplan...
admittly some players form can be questoined but i still believe players dont become rubbish overnite, they either dont know what they are doing or they are trying to hard, or they have lost form...habanna to me looks like he is trying to hard in a steup where he should just be given instructions on how to play, morne steyn, always in 2 minds, why?
what is the gamplan..
from a entertainment value, great to watch, but from a genuine rugby point of view, with the team we have, we should be smashing opposition..
where to from here?

I think the reason for poor Bok peformance is that their opposition is better. When the Boks beat some of the six nations teams, they are said to be unstopable, the best in the world. But as soon as they come up against the other top ranked teams and loose by 1 or 2 points, they are the worst team ever. i think if beale missed that kick that many people would not even have seen all the mistakes they made.
Aus and NZ have upped their game. and now saru wants to join the northern hemisphere compitition, because they cant take the pressure.
And JAke White wanting to take over now...that is just stupid. he was not that good a coach when he was there. Sure he won the WC...but he had record losses to many teams. He struggled against teams like samoa, Tonga, Fiji...
They should just work harder and just go do their job. if they cant do the job on the field, get rid of them. If someone is not in form, the international stage is not the place to regain form.
a question that i have...Who are the Bok selectors? is it only the coach...or are there selectors chosen?

I do not for one minute believe that the combination of PDV, Gold and Muir is the right one. Senior players ala Habana, Smit and Matfield have mis-fired all season. These guys are the backbone of the side and need to lead by example. Spies has proved to be extremely overrated and should be dropped. He only performs against lesser opposition and when the scrum is on the back foot his handling is atrocious. Bakkies has yet again proved he is a thug and has undone all the hard work by behaving like a goon. Jannie Doep is not test quality much like Olivier, Januarie, Kirschner and either of the Ndungane clowns.
Positives however are the emergence of De Jongh, Aplon, Hougaard and Ralepelle. Yes I have been a fierce critic of Chilliboy's but he has shown a maturity well beyond his years and with more game time I believe he could potentially be a top 3 hooker in the country.
Why do things always have to be complicated in this country? Other rugby nations seem to be functioning at a "professional" level and handle pitfalls and controversy behind closed doors. We have become a laughing stock in terms of everything that is sport and unfortunately there is a situation where not everyone is going to be pleased by selections, gameplan or selection of kit for that matter. Ultimately we should get behind the team and forge on to the 2011 WC and retain the title in style.

everything can be fixed by those in charge if they realise there is something they need to fix...and there is, a good solid tweak here and there
and the boks wil be playing to there true potential...
but do those in charge give me the impressin that nothings wrong.
