RE:Bulls player held over cop's death
Ive been up North myself and I can say that those folk are much friendlier than what our people are down here ... if you also want to see integrated societies .. u go up there ...
At any rate, I suppose it happens slower in some places ..

Very true. If I can refer this situation to 2 people, if one person want to change, the other should also want to change. It's not just a one way street.

RE:Bulls player held over cop's death
Josh : Gauteng has changed alot faster in terms of integration in all areas and at all levels, but its not all that perfect, there are still a good few up here that maintain the ET mentality and they only interact when they are forced too.
Typical example : In Menlyn Mall the Nedbank and FNB are next to each other. The security guard at FNB, which happens to be a black person, has a bank account at Nedbank. The security guard at Nedbank, also black, and the one from FNB happens to be friends. The one from FNB goes inside Nedbank, waits in the line to be served. As this is routine to him, he goes and take some water from the water dispenser and takes a seat to wait his turn. A team manager from Nedbank, a white lady, goes to the Nedbank security guard, reporting that the security guard from FNB looks suspicious. The security guard rom Nedbank laughs it off, tells his friend from FNB, and this person reported this incident to the highest authority within Nedbank.
Though this is not an eveyday occurence up here, the racial prejudice are still there. But i still maintain that there should be now stereotypiong and each incident shoud be treated on its own merrit.

RE:Bulls player held over cop's death
guys as south africans, we have to deal with quite alot regarding racial topics
examples can be used in nearly every scenerio where white, black, coloured and indian have been offended or where racial tension has been brought to the for....
its just that people (including myself) tend to stereo type and generalise when talking of incidents , we automatically put a colour to a incident that might have happened, which is incorrect and not politically correct..
but it does happen...
example ; when i say taxi driver...most would think of a bad driving black person (that would be my guess)...but thats me generalising and everybody in sa and probably the world does it..not right, but unfortunately part of life..

Fatz, no way, should not be part of life anymore, we must all be agents of change, those mentalities should be phased out by the change agents......

RE:Bulls player held over cop's death
If I can say this politely, Saffas are still very much obsessed with skin colour or race. If all of us can see past the skin colour and treat each other as human beings, I think that would be utopia and ultimately be a scenario of respect towards one another.
