Super Rugby semi final
Just looking for some clarity. I know if the Crusaders win, they play the Stormers at Newlands, but if the Sharks win do we play the winner of the Blues/Tahs game as the highest ranked qualifier? I've heard conflicting stories. Can anyone clear this up?

RE:Super Rugby semi final
According 2 News 24 (sport) the Reds will play the lowest ranked  qualifier.

Friday @ 9h35  Blues vs Waratha
Saturday @ 9h35 Crusaders vs Sharks

The Stormers will host the highest ranked qualifier

I see th tickets for the Newlands match going on sale this coming Thursday, before we know what the result in the Crusaders vs Sharks match will be. Will be interesting to know how many AB or Crusaders supporters will go buy tickets to attend the Semi-final on Thursday.

Semifinals

· We’ve already established the Reds and Stormers would host home semifinals.

· But to determine who plays who in the semifinal is another matter, as the competition rules state the highest-ranked qualifier would play the team ranked second. This means should the Crusaders (3rd) win their playoff game, they would face the Stormers, with the winner of the other game facing the Reds.

· However, should the Crusaders lose to the Sharks, then the Stormers would face the highest ranked team, ie the winner of the other playoff game.

· The Reds would automatically face the lowest ranked qualifier, showing how important it was to top the log and the reward that goes with it.

Im my opinion, if its not the Sader, its the blues, so the AB supporters will be happy either way

No, no, no you got it all wrong, Jean! It is not about the teams, but as I understand it - 3rd plays 1st  seed that winner plays the Stormers. 2nd seed against 3rd seed and the winner there plays the 1st place Reds.

This conference system is too complicated and too long-winded , especially in a world cup year.

Im tipping a Blues v Reds Final. .. can that happen?

I think it can, if the Sharks beat the Saders, then lose to the Reds and the Blues beat the Tahs and Stormers

I don't like the conference thing either, but the way the play-offs are structured is good. If you watched the IPL cricket - they had a great formula for the play-offs. You get advantages from finishing higher on the log.
