More Bulls supporters at Newlands.
Seems like there were more Bulls supporters at Newlands than Stormers supporters. Did anyone else notice this?
In fact, even the Stormers was booooooowed. Did anyone else notice?
I really don;t know what the heck is up with these Cape Town people !!
They support the Crusaders , now it's the Bulls.
At least now I can say that's it not a racist thing !
WONDER WHY THEY ARE LIKE THIS ?

Maybe there are underlying perceptions that the fans are just giving vent to. Firstly I am a Stormers/ WP/ Bokke supporter, only after Unification with all its shortcomings. I was a fiery Wallaby Supporter previously. Thank you now that I have that off my chest.
I am a Bushy from UWC for that matter. You can take Bushy as part of UWC or my Race, whichever way you want to. The support for other teams is basically a reflection of the microcosm out there in our Communities. The majority of my friends, family and Colleagues are virulently anti WP/ Stormers and Bokke just because they perceive that transformation has not taken place in WP/ Stormers and Bokke and this is the reality.
Their argument always centres around the Junior (even Craven Week) teams where you see the Races very fairly represented. But once these guys reach Seniors they fall through the gaps and either have to go to other Provinces including the Bulls to be selected and to compete and represent at Provincial level.
In the past at least we as old SARU Clubs were able to at least compete at Union (Tygerberg, C&S, WP, KWARU, EP ETC) level for a position, and the competition was rife, but now it has all been taken away.
More and more I have my doubts about the whole Unification thing and believe that the old SARU Clubs came off the worst and still are being threatened with extinction because of the fact that we do not have access to sufficient resources and the tendency by the Union to force Clubs to amalgamate and have less Clubs to compete.
I have empathy with them and even experienced the same thing when a family member were forced to move to the Lions because he was only the second preference for Flanker/ no8 in the WP U21 and warmed the bench almost at every game.
Maybe I brought a bit of light as to the why but there are probably a hundred more reasons as to why people support other teams than the Home Province or Nation.

RE:More Bulls supporters at Newlands.
Or maybe .. just maybe .. it would garner more support if the Stormers were more accessable to the public .. much like the Bulls and Crusaders ...

Case in point, on a local radio show, someone won tickets to the game and the tickets delivered by a Stormers player .. everyone thought it would be a bigger name than Tim Whitehead ...

The powers that be need to do some serious PR work and get the people behind the Stormers more .. accessability is the key ..

RE:More Bulls supporters at Newlands.
Thank you for your response to my post.
Everything you said makes sense. I was previously invovled with the ''old'' Western Province union. ( SARU ).
I have to admit that the likes of Mr Jabaar, at the time, was not in favour of the unification. However, an Avis sponsored Toyota and an office was enough to change his mind.
hehehheeee. don't worry, guys like Hermie Abrahams, Crawster, Chippie and many more we given ''nice'' positions. I always wonder what happenend to ''white guys'' that help the positions of all these newbies.. or.... were most of the positions created for these guys ?
I mean, Mr Jabaar's job , amonst other things, was to kickoff the ball for the under 7's rugby games. Other guys were given tasks to help security.
It's probably not fair to say that appartheid was replaced by money! or is it?

With all due respect Josh, my first hand experience is that of the Union being very archaic in light of their marketing and PR. To them match day programmes or a once a year cricket match is sufficient. Any wonder the Bulls are so popular. They play the worst brand of rugby known to man but their PR and general relationship with their public is excellent. The Bulls operate as a business and have structures in places to further that brand unlike the Stormers.

In terms of locals supporting the "enemy", so be it, but do not expect a warm welcome.......LOL!!!

I must admit I feel the same about the stormers/wp team. If SBW can spend a whole morning at a local Islamic college why cant the stormers at least send say Schalk Burger to deliver winning tickets ? I am a fan, but a fan on the decline...

RE:More Bulls supporters at Newlands.

Watched a snippet on Boots this morning .. interviewing Bulls players .. they were busy at some school or coaching clinic .. topflight Bulls and Boks ..

These guys need to take their fans more seriously and the support will come .. no doubt.
