How to lose on the scoreboard & still beat the Wallabies
This is an extract by John Scott of the Cape Times:-
Springbok coach Pe ter De Villiers has introduced an entirely new dimension into rugby. He said after his team's defeat by the Wallabies last Saturday that "in my opinion the only place we lost was on the scoreboard". De Villiers was making the point that South Africa had actually won the match on the field, just not on the scoreboard. At this point, some may ask how do you win on the field and not on the scoreboard. De Villiers has an answer for you "We should have had more points, the way we played. We just didn't score them. He also add " We making great strides towards the World Cup, just not on the scoreboard and only the scoreboard stands between us and success".

Dont wanna be funny but i have actually heard a phrase like that before from another coach on television (cant remember who it was though) and no-one batted an eyelid. But this poor guy is having a tough time, hope the team starts winning to ease the pressure on the poor guy. LOL!

Was it Boy Louw that said to the overseas press: "Looks at the scoreboard" ?

I remember how Jake White was crucified on this very forum for team
selections, tactics etc.Bokkies won WC and he was a hero.Just imagine
PDV pulls it off and Bokkies bring home the trophy, the players will
then be the hero"s not him.On the other hand if they fail to make playoffs
the swords will be out for PDV,as for the players...geen haan sal kraai nie.

At least you won't have to worry, being a Kiwi fan and all. Don't stress, leave that up to us Bok supporters........Boks to win (on scoreboard) the 2011 WC, with or without PDV!!

Im not worried at all about the Bokies, will neva stress over them. But what
i do knw should they by some miracle retain WC,the players will receive
the accolades, not PDV,but should they flop then PDV,should rather stay
in NZ,or do a Graeme Smith.

You are right. Jake White was also cruzified for losing test matches before the WC. The fact is he managed to win the WC with some help from the French and some other teams in the process, but the fact is he achieved his goal. Only problem that SARU decided to fire him before the WC already.
The question is, will PdV be able to achieve his goal? On the scoreboard that is. :-) PdV has not done his name any good with what he's been saying in the media over the years. No-one has respect for him and that is a huge problem.

LOL,the scoreboard is all that matters yes.PDV se uitlatings gaan my verstand te bowe.

To be fair, one must be JUST!

Jy's heeltemal reg.
