Boishaai vs Gim Old Boys Classic Clash 2011
Come and see the old boys of 2 of the top rugby schools, well one (Boishaai!) at least :-) grind each other like we were back on school palying at Faure street in front of 25000 people for our beloved schools.
Gim edged us last year 24-20 infront of 10 000 plus spectators on their home ground. Described as the biggest old boys rugby clash worlwide when you consider specatator attendance and sponsorships! We are expecting 12-15000 people this year at Brug street on next week Wednesday night.

I hear that Chris and Pieter Rossouw are playing for gim this year and Andre Louis De Villiers (Jean's) brother is thier captain. Ons wag vir jullle gim moffies!!! Boishaai BO!!!

Kick off at 8pm Wednesday 3rd at Brug Street Sports fields.

Faure street doesnt have capacity for 25000 ....
Also very interesting to see that sponsorships come for a match for old boys ... logic ???

would have loved to see the match though as from Ive heard from a colleague they are cracker jack affairs ... maybe JDV needs to go and help his Paarl team mates for this season ..

Interschools pulls 20-25000 people every year at Faure street on the saturday. Old boys games usually 5-8000 but last year it pulled 10. I know, I am part of the organising commitee. The old boys game is becomming bigger and bigger and this year we expect 10 000 minimum. The old boys hockey pulls 3000 on the Tuesday night! I am getting goose bumps already as I am playing in both (captaining the hockey). Never happened before that an old boy is "good" enough to make both teams in both sporting code so ek is chuffed met myself :-)
Kak dom..

Anyway, kak excited!

'Neath the far famed rock of granite gray
Stands a school the best all people say
Boys and youths to train and educate
Model men to rear for Church and State
Or for tendered field, for track and sporting ground
And its name and fame throughout the land resound.
For the school, renowned from Berg to Vaal
Is the Boys' High School of Upper Paarl.
Of all the school throughout the land
Alma Mater thou shalt stand.
Supreme and great far o'er the rest
Highly honoured, glorious and blessed.

Alma Mater bly jou naam
Voortreflik groot deur roemryk werk
Bly verrig tot heil van Staat en Kerk.

War Cry

Shimalaya wha!
Shimalaya wha!
HJS HJS
Wha 'sop - 'sop 'sop 'sop
We are - we are
HJS HJS
Wha 'sop, Shimalaya wha!

Congrats to the old boys. I was at the game and it was quite entertaining. hard hits all the way. No major injuries. Hopefully Boishaai  will walk away with it on sat again!

BTW, how old do you have to be to play a game for the old boys? or whats the rules? I still play, so would love to maybe play for them next year.

Lock 05, as far as I know you must have been out of school for at least 10 years and not be playing proffessional rugby. So to play in next years game you must have matriculated in or before 2001 if I'm not mistaken.
