Well done boys on a great season so far. The first side has won the league with games to spare and the 2nd and 3rd teams are first in their leagues. I was at the match saterday, Great to see the old boys there again. Club rugby can rise up again with the support of past players.

LOL. I thought that some one of the PLA would have said something about this. Yes Goodwood still need to win a couple of matches, but with all the action in the OFF THE FELD ACTION in the SLB i wondered if any one would realize this. But Goodwood will win the league easily.

WELL done Goories ... I would hasten to suggest though that this team will not do well in SLB ... maybe some reinforcements ???

Jaques, thank you for the convidence in us, but the season is not over yet. Let my illustrate:

GWD has 64 points after 14 matches
St Georges has 43 points after 12 matches

GWD has a bye the next 2 weeks, but St Georges will play. If the win both matches WITH a bonus point, the log will look as follow:

GWD 64 points after 14
St Georges 53 points after 14

Our next match in 3 weeks is against St Georges. IF we win St Georges, we can increase the gap to anything from 13 to 16 points, with 3 matches remaining. That would mean that we only need 3 points at most to win the league in our remaining 3 fixtures.

If we however lose against St Georges, the 11 point gap (bearing in mind they MUST win with a bonus point the next 2 weeks) could decrease from anything between 9 to 6 points. This  makes things more interesting, because if St Georges then go on and win their remaining three matches with a bonus point, GWD then must win 2 matches out of the last 3 to clinch the titel. And we must still play Langa and Scottsdene away...

So daar moet nog baie water in die dam loop voor ons die liga kan wen!!! Die volgende paar weke gaan baie interessant wees.

JOSH K, ons is baie bewus van die feit dat ons met ons huidige span nie veel gaan uitrig in die SLB sonder groot aanvullings in sekere posisies nie. Daar is reeds planne in plek om 'n plan vir die toekoms daar te stel en om sekere spelers te kry om vir die volgende paar jaar GWD hulle tuiste te maak, of altans Goodwood Rugby Klub, aangesien 'n paar van hulle in die omgewing bly, maar elders speel. 

Vir nou is ons totale fokus egter op die liga. Ons het te veel respek vir St Georges om enigsins ons KUIKENS TE TEL VOOR HULLE UITBROEI!!!

Jaques en kie, BAIE BAIE DANKIE vir al julle ondersteuning tot dusver vanjaar. Dit was verblywend om te sien hoe die "OUER" GWD manne weer Saterdag in dosyne by die klub was.  

Dankie dat jy die manne net regstel op hulle "gelukwensing" Chuck. We have to work hard at it, BUT the league is FAR from done menere!

Congrats to Goodwood on a good perfomance so far, but i think the Premier league a is done and dusted. But one thing i warn you abt is the game against Langa in langa. its gonna be a cracker. Fireworks because thats what you guys gave langa the last time this two met in Goodwood.I think its a must watch game.

Julle ouens is "braaf" om sulke statement te maak :-) The league is FAR from over, Goodwood has a comfortable cushion, they have however NOT "won" Premier A.
Its statements and posts like this that when it does not materialise then the ref, the union, the spectators, "foul play in admin", etc etc. gets the blame, hou vas jou matras Goodwood want die LULU is LOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We talk alot cause we can bac it, its not about bragging its about backing it up that matters, but yes you right "vir a team wat tweede le" praat ons... BUT we've come a long way since our league started, we've had all sorts of challenges from changing training venues to having no lights at our training grounds to practicing on the beach... maar ons kom daar deur, we not saying Goodwood cannot beat us, neither are we saying we are going to win them, league determiner this Saturday after being down by 16 points a few weeks ago!!! Pride vs Money, Comfort vs Challenges, Co-operate vs Community! Top of the table clash, a few weeks ago we wouldnt have thought we'd come so close like this weekend. I say this weekend is GOOD rugby, both Lulu vs Goodwood & Tiere vs NNK.. top tier teams, marooon vs red, maroon vs red

Cheddarbob, I think you trying to HYPE the match up too much and want us to fall in the "TRAP" of underestimating St Georges and not showing you respect etc. as extra motivation for you... The following is the feeling amongts Goodwood RFC PLAYERS AND MANAGEMENT: - St Georges is a very strong team - We respect their heritage - We respect that they are a community club with certain challenges, but have risen above that - We acknowledge that they are a very proud side My point is, we respect each team week in and week out in the PLA as most face certain challenges, but are all proud sides that won't gve up till the final whistle blows. That is why PLA is so difficult, any result could go any way on a given Saturday. We will never underestimate ANY team... Bearing everything in mind, we did our pre season planning and adjusted it accordingly as the season progressed. We wanted to be in a situation where we DIDN'T have to go to St Georges and win them to STAY or BE on top of the log as we know how strong side you are at home. We have achieved that. So seeing as a win will be crucial for St George's promotion aspiration, Goodwood RFC COULD lose this match and still win promotion. We obviously don't want this, but if we lose, we still have our own destiny in our own hands, MEANING that if we obtain 10 points (if we get nothing against St Georges) in our remaining 3 fixtures, we will still be promoted. You mentioned Langa will be out for "revenge" against Goodwood, but if they also win us (if St Georges does and we don't get a bonus point) AND we again don't get a bonus point next week, we STILL have our destiny in our own hands, MEANING that we MUST then obtain 10 points in our last 2 fixtures to guarantee promotion. SO yes, this game is VERY important for St Georges and Goodwood, but a WIN is a must for St Goerges, whereby Goodwood will still be "on schedule" if we lose, even though the presure would be on us even more not to slip up in the last 3 games... Goodluck for Saturday, we as a "COMFORT" club look forward to your hospitality, it is always nice to play at St Georges. The atmosphere is alway electrifying... PS Please arrange a landing strip for us, we would like to arrive COMFORTABLY in our jets...
