RE:Belhar stay in SLA
Belhar will have to adress their supporters' behaviour though. To swear, intimidate and racially abuse referees and opposing teams is a disgrace and does not belong in any league. I really hope this will improve in the future.

Small children and innocent spectators are subjected to this week after week and I really feel that they should rather stay at home if they plan on making themselves guilty of these unwanted acts.

Referees make mistakes, players react emotionally, but we are all still human and have one thing in common. We LOVE rugby!

If referees didn't make mistakes and players weren't allowed to play freely and make decisions spontaneously, then it would't be rugby. I am not saying that mistakes are good, but referees who ref at this level are also aspiring for higher honours, so they also try their best and deserve a safe and enjoyable afternoon on a Saturday.

Well done Belhar! Staying up for 2012 is a great achievement!
Keep in mind though, from next year it's 2 up 2 down scenario kicking in. So it will be even more competative for the 2012 season.

All the best!!

Eagle, this was merely me sharing my experiences of the past season.

If I offended you then I am truly sorry, but I can't help thinking that if that's the case, then you are one of the negative supporters that I referred to.

My post was to encourage good behaviour and a wish for "fellow rugby loving public" to just get along. I don't think that is too much to ask. Is it?

RE:Belhar stay in SLA
You are one of those typical spineless people, hiding behind pseudonames(Jacques Pienaar). You should be ashamed as a referee  to make such accusations. If and I state a big IF, your allegations were to be true, why did you not lay a complaint at the Union( but you could not as it is not substantiated)You say week in and week out this happened, did you referee all our games????The answer is no,but you can ask me because I was there week after week.
I do not recall any swearing at you, intimdation or RACIAL ABUSE.These allegations are of a very serious nature, and I hope you realise that.
Our crowds behaviour is of high standard and to put this out on the forum that it is unsafe for children at our fields is ridiculous.
But I can see where you coming from and where you dont want our club to be.Unfortunately for you we are here to stay,so learn to accept it in the spirit of rugby or maybe you dont belong in rugby.

The question still remains - is NNK or Tygerberg better than Belhar?? I think Belhar deserve to stay up, but would have been relegated if next year's rules had applied.  My personal opinion is there should be a play off for that second promotion place and not automatic promotion.

I would like to agree with you beadybee. My question would be if the play off is between the second best SLB team and the second last SLA team, where would the venue be?The SLA team home or SLB team home or a neutral venue?

I am talking about the principle - but home and away would be a fantastic money spinner for both clubs involved.  I just don't believe the runner up in for, example, the SLB is better than the second bottom club in the SLA.  Belhar don't deserve to go straight up and straight down - they are beginning to find their feet.  This, I believe, will be the case for most of the promoted clubs, it will be a yo yo effect

RE:Belhar stay in SLA
I agree re the second promotion to play a play off, but all the clubs agreed to 2 up 2 down, so I don't see the play off scenario happening.

RE:Belhar stay in SLA
Ek wil graag hier opkom vir Belhar. Ek was net eenkeer daar.

beadybee: I was one of the guys that proposed a promotion relegation system that included play-offs for all the leagues at Newlands on the same day. Unfortunately it was not approved by council - that is what the democratic system is all about. We have to accept the outcome.

We, like all SLA clubs, were not in favour of 2 up and 2 down between SLA and SLB. I remember when we stll had that system when there were 12 teams in a league with 2 up and down, Durbell was relegated even though we had 38 log points - think about it. Yes it was after 22 matches, not 18. But 38 points are many - just have a look at the current logs. The other team relegated that year was Kuilsriver. They had somethng lke 15 points.
What happened in SLB the next year is history. With this system teams will be relegated to SLB who are too strong for that league.

One thng is sure - Helderberg will be back n SLA in 2013.

Dont be too sure... The top 3 in SLB are all tough to beat, no guarantee that helderberg will be ahead of bellville and the unlucky team between tyger and nnk that doesnt get promoted.  Berge could easily come 3rd or worse.

Well Krimz, the way thngs went at NNK last year we weren't that sure you would be back n SLA in 2012. If you don't make it, it wll be bloody close. I'm pretty sure Helderberg wll make Top 2 next year.

What in your opinion has lead to the downfall of Helderberg this year?
