 Hi sorry for asking but does unbeaten not mean if you play 18 games you have won 18 games.  As far as I can see did both you 2 teams not have a 100% win ratio.

No , unbeaten means no 'L' under the loss column .. so Goories unbeaten.

No team recorded a victory against them .. if im not mistaken 2 draws and 29-25 over Rangers the closest they came to losing ...

I can assure you they were at full strength. I.e the same team against whom Scottsdene lost narrowly in the firts round !!!

We have no excuses. We only missed 5 1st team players:
 
- Anthony Maarman (Fullback - went to a funeral in Citrusdal)
- Werner Rabe (Eigthman - serious neck injury against Langa 2 weeks ago)
- Duane Schreuder (Centre - tore ankle ligaments against Langa)
- Christo Laten (Front Row - best man at wedding)
- Marco Veldhoen (Front Row - tore ligaments against Langa)

So we played our strongest possible 1st team side on the day and got hammered by a very motivated Scottsdene that scored some suberb long distance tries.

As for my topic, I raised this topic on various web sites and forums during the week...

Our 2nd team was on equal points with Scottsdene's 2nd team before the final match, thus the winner would take the league. We wanted to take the focus of this match, as we decided to play our regular 2nd team and not strengthen it with 1st team players. This only seemed fair to all the 2nd team players who worked hard during the season to be in this position...

The downside to this was that Scottsdene could "load" their 2nd team with 1st team players, as their 1st team was in a comfortable position before the match and this would ensure that they would atleast win 1 league in 2011.

This is the reason why I tried to "HYPE" up the 1st team match as much as possible. Call it bait, but it seemed to work ;-)

What would you prefer, your 1st team being unbeaten and the only team in your club to win their league, or your 1st team not unbeaten but still winning their league TOGETHER with your 2nd team winning their league??? I think the answer is as clear as "daylight", no pun intended!!!

Once again congratulations to Scottsdene for ending our 1st team's unbeaten run, we definitely came into the game trying our utmost to stay unbeaten. You deserved to win and outplayed us in all departments.
